The Future

The Philadelphia Regional Port Authority, in cooperation with our terminal operators and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, is continually improving our facilities. Development at the port continues to meet the global demand for new cargos and more efficient cargo handling processes:

  • Continued revitalization of Pier 122, leased by Northeast Energy Terminals (Operator: T. Parker Host), which will allow the facility to handle a variety of bulk cargoes
  • Completion of the modifications to the Pier 124 south berth, leased by Eco-Energy (Operator: T. Parker Host) — This facility will transport ethanol from rail to barge and onward to refineries along the Delaware River
  • Improvements at the Packer Avenue Marine Terminal, including:
    • Demolition of existing buildings
    • Improvements to the existing wharf/berths
    • Conversion of the container storage area from the current reach stacker
operation to a full rubber tire gantry (RTG) model
    • New maintenance facilities; and Improved truck gate
