PhilaPort Appoints New Australia – New Zealand Representative

Philadelphia, July 2, 2024 —

T.G. Peiris, PhilaPort’s long-time Representative for Australia and New Zealand, has announced his retirement.

PhilaPort Executive and Director CEO Jeff Theobald praised Peiris’ dedicated service to The Port of Philadelphia: “T.G. has been an ideal representative in a major market for our Port. He is a great numbers guy and knows the details of our key commodities, but he also helped us understand the big picture and the cultural context in which trade takes place.”

Peiris will be succeeded by Dominic Enthoven, who worked for ocean carrier Hamburg Süd in Oceania (Australia/New Zealand) and in several other countries around the world.

PhilaPort Senior Director of Marketing Sean Mahoney worked with Peiris for over thirty years. He noted the breadth of Peiris’ contribution to the Port.

“T.G. covered Oceania for us, but he also helped us get cargoes and services from Singapore, Indonesia, and elsewhere. He was a determined salesman – he got to know the decision makers at the major exporters and importers, as well as the ocean carriers, and steered them to Philadelphia.”

Prior to his work with PhilaPort, Peiris was Marketing Manager for the Port of Botany Bay (Australia), Marketing Officer of the Port of Sydney, and worked for an UN-affiliated agency.  Earlier in his career, he was the Director of Promotion of the Ceylon (Sri Lanka) Tea Board, where he had the opportunity to meet the Queen of England and other world leaders.

T.G.’s interests include history, literature, and travel. During his next chapter, he looks forward to spending more time with his family, reading, and enjoying Australia’s many natural wonders.

Dominic Enthoven, PhilaPort’s new Representative for Australia/New Zealand, has 32 years of shipping experience with Hamburg Sud/Maersk, primarily in trade allocation and area management as well as new service developments. In that time, he lived and worked in the UK, South America (Chile 1991), and Miami (1994-2005) before moving to Sydney as Regional Product Manager in 2005, where the OC1/’Trident’ service between Oceania and Philadelphia occupied a key position.

“We look forward to introducing Dominic to the Philadelphia Port community when he visits us later this month.  With Dominic’s extensive connections and experience, we are excited to grow our trade with Oceania and beyond,” concluded PhilaPort’s Mahoney.
